Improvement Group reduces printer setup time and increases production efficiency at Corrugated Cardboard factory in Curitiba (PR)

When everyone is committed, continuous improvement flows through internal processes, driving excellent results for both the company and its teams.

When everyone is committed, continuous improvement flows through internal processes, driving excellent results for both the company and its teams. This is exemplified by the project to reduce setup time* on a printer at Trombini’s corrugated cardboard factory in Curitiba (PR).

Key actions included engaging the team, implementing a machine anomaly labeling system, standardizing the setup process, and providing employee training. Additionally, routines, manuals, and checklists were developed specifically for this project, and these can be applied to other equipment as well. Another key action was filming the setup process, which helped identify bottlenecks, periods of idleness, and opportunities for improvement.

With methodological support and the competence and creativity of the equipment’s responsible staff, the Improvement Group successfully reduced the printer’s overall setup time by 17%.

Initiatives and projects like this are part of Trombini’s INOVAR Program, which aims to enhance the company’s competitiveness and performance. The program promotes continuous improvement in processes, while prioritizing safety and the organization of the work environment.

New perspectives and satisfactory results

Senior production operator Jean Carlos Corizola says this project gave the team a new perspective, showing that there is always room for improvement. “It was a great challenge, and we faced a lot of work and difficulties. However, the result was extremely rewarding, both in terms of reducing setup time and in the knowledge and learning gained. I would like to congratulate everyone on their focus and commitment. Thank you to the entire team for their support, as well as to the coordination and management for placing their trust in us, allowing us to do an excellent job.”*Setup refers to a sequence of events performed to prepare equipment when transitioning from producing one item to another with different manufacturing characteristics, requiring tool changes, adjustments, and other operations.
